FRIDAY 1 st November 14.30 – 15:00 REGISTRATION SATURDAY 2nd November 10:00 – 11:45 LECTURES - Amélie Noack & Ilya Pazhiltsev SUNDAY 3rd November 09:30 – 11:00 DISCUSSION GROUPS Speakers and Abstracts Liudmila Ryabova. Legitimacy of State Power as a Category of the Russian Mentality Here Amélie Noack This presentation suggests that the traditional forms of authority and leadership need a fundamental re-balancing in the direction of a cooperation of the masculine and the feminine. The presentation proposes to add the concept of 'patrix' to the term 'matrix' in group analysis. The patrix denotes those qualities of the group conductor, which relate to her or his use of authority and power in the process of forming and instructing the group through interaction with the group. It is the directive activity of the patrix in the interaction with the structure of the matrix, which evoke the group analytic processes of 'ego training in action'. The explication of the infantile roots for omnipotent leadership and the need for benign authority to counterbalance the patriarchal heritage in our societies are presented as part of a group analytical theory of leadership. Such a theory would not only be relevant clinically, but even more so politically, in a world, where totalitarian and fundamentalist tendencies and their inherent dangers are on the rise. Amélie Noack, MA, MSc, Memb.IGA, GASI, AGIP (Hon) and Assoc.Memb. of GANLondon is a Training Group Analyst for the IGA and a Jungian Analyst, and worked for many years with individuals and groups in private practice, as well as teaching and supervising in the UK and abroad. She directed the IGA's London Qualifying and Foundation Courses for several years, is a past member and Chair of the IGA’s International Courses Committee, and also served for eight years on the EGATIN Committee. She now works on the Group Analytic Training Course in GRAS, Germany, combining Jungian Analysis, Group Analysis and Winnicott’s contribution. She is in the process of co-editing a book for the Group Analytic Network London and is author of many articles, for instance: Ilya Pazhiltsev The issues of power, authority and leadership always occupy a central place both in society and in groups. At the same time, in the emerging crises of authority, two aspects of its assessment usually come to the fore: competence and justice of a leader. These aspects are important for the safety and success of the functioning of both society and the group. Therefore, they are often the basis of negative projections on the leader. The lecture discusses the main aspects of the work, allowing to make these aspects subject to review by the group. Ilya Pazhiltsev PhD, Tamar Eyni-Lehman The lecture is based on the story of one of the first groups in ancient time: the creation of the people of Israel's group identity, while migrating from the land of bondage to the Promised Land, focusing on the leadership of Moses and God. This authority encounters all sorts of difficulties and obstacles, some between the conductors themselves, and leads to mutual growth in their interpersonal relationship. Their ability to help and complete each other allows the group establish its own identity and expand their mental and physical boundaries. Tamar EYNI-Lehman, M.A. Alexandra Beniaminova Abstract: Relying on the definition and phenomenological analysis of the authority of Alexander Kozhev, what is considered is the transfer of authority to a group. What does the authority of the group look like. What role does the setting, rules, group laws play in this. Beniaminova Alexandra.
